Kenya 1992Picture Album Detailed Itinery |
Lynne and I took this trip as part of our silver wedding anniversary. However, we got hooked on the wildlife and, as you can see below, have done more since. For our first safari, we booked a standard package deal (Kuoni - Leopard Safari). This proved to be an excellent starting point - a two week safari covering the major venues and sights. Six of us shared a minibus (our fellow trekkies were Chris & Jane and Gerald & Christine) and covered some ??? miles over roads, fields (often they were better than the roads), the bush, riverbeds, valleys and mountains.

This trip we did by ourselves, using a UK agent of a Nairobi based company. We told them where we wanted to go and wanted to see, they then organised the route and sorted out the overnight stops. I have to confess, this trip was not as enjoyable as the others - primarily due to the lack of company.

Back to the package deals - this one through Guerba (), I wanted to camp in the wild. We went with friends Jayne & Phil (their first safari). This was probably even better than our first safari. Although we visited many of the places we had been before, they never look the same twice - the animals obviously move about and the weather makes things look vastly different. We also took in many new places, including Zanzibar (the spice island).
